The
idea of EgSAE started by one person
few years ago and in 2003, a group of
Egyptian association executives came
together and started working on forming
an association for supporting other
association executives in Egypt. EgSAE
registration took place on April 12th,
2003.
EgSAE
received the help and support of the
Agriculture-Led Export Businesses (ALEB),
a project funded by the United States
Agency for International Development
(USAID) to improve global competitiveness
of the Egyptian food processing industry,
related services, industries and associations
to achieve sustainable export growth,
Since it started and throughout the
year 2004. ALEB was very optimistic
about the sustainability of EgSAE and
considered it to be the mother of all
associations and NGOs in Egypt and that
through EgSAE, the Egyptian civil society
will continue to grow and enhance which
will translate into more development
for Egypt
In
2004, things have been moving fast and
towards EgSAE’s mission. Committees
were formed, detailed programs, a website
and promotional materials were produced.
In
2005, we decided to have a new premise
which was chosen to be in the most elegant
district in Cairo, Garden City. Also
an Executive Director was and assigned
to recruit EgSAE staff to be able to
execute a well designed action plan.
The website has been reviewed and updated
, where the site is getting more features,
new design and other enhancements through
which EgSAE will have a powerful promotional
tool in the business community not only
in Egypt, but worldwide. It will be
used as a recruitment tool to attract
new members and to sustain the EgSAE
members as well, through the services
planned to be offered through the website.
We are recruiting experienced and knowledgeable
members to form the membership core
of our association, to realize our objective
of launching a highly effective organisation
capable of influencing the development
process in Egypt. EgSAE, like the American
Society of Association Executives (ASAE),
is an association whose active members
are comprised of the executives from
other trade and business associations.
Believing
that the best way to recruit and retain
members is through providing high quality
services with competitive prices, EgSAE
is focusing on having powerful training
programs for both its members and potential
members. Transferring the knowledge
and skills of association experts from
both Egypt and abroad to the Egyptian
association executives is our aim.
Finally,
although EgSAE is still a small start
up association, it’s got a very active
and dedicated board and it has a lot
of potential for growth and expansion.
EgSAE’s main focus in the next period
will be on recruiting members and increasing
its base of awareness among Egypt’s
civil society. EgSAE has a very optimistic,
and realistic, strategic plan that is
being followed and achieved one step
at a time. Although there are many challenges
facing EgSAE in terms of growing and
increasing membership, the dedication
and enthusiasm will definitely get it
through those challenges
